Example conversion

Let's take an example – a 160 lb man wanting to convert his pounds to stone and pounds write:

  1. We start with the weight in pounds, which is 160 pounds.
  2. We divide the pounds figure by 14: 160 ÷ 14 = 11.43 (approximately).
  3. This has a remainder, so we take the numbers after the decimal point (0.43) and multiply them by 14: 0.43 × 14 = 6.02 (approximately).
